Outer drill guides are measured to 74mm, which is compatible with all Floyd Rose, Gotoh1996, FU Tone, Guyker & many more 2 Point Mounting Systems. Use a 2mm drill bit to drill small pilot holes at correct depth compatible with your chosen mounting system (see details below)*
Remove Trem-EZ Template
Use a slightly larger 3mm drill bit, then increase gradually by 1mm until desired width & depth is reached*
*Stepping up bit gradually instead of drilling a large hole all at once reduces the risk of the drill bit snagging and in many cases prevents paint from chipping (not guaranteed).
*POST WIDTH - The final size of the post holes depends on the mounting system you are using - for example - Gotoh1996 Stud Inserts measure at 11.27mm Wide - so the final hole/drill bit should be 11mm - the slightly smaller hole will ensure the stud insert fits snugly without the need for wood glue. Floyd Rose Special Stud Inserts are smaller and measure at 10.2mm - so the final hole/drill bit would be slightly smaller at 10mm in this instance. Make sure to measure your studs with a ruler or caliper OR see if you can verify information on Google to ensure a proper fit.
POST DEPTH - Also make sure to measure the depth/length of your stud inserts - overdrilling or underdrilling can result otherwise. Gotoh1996 Studs are 30mm deep, Floyd Rose Special Studs are 20mm deep - always make sure to measure. A simple method to prevent overdrilling is to put a piece of a tape on the drill bit at the desired stopping point.
